HB Artist Insider: King Jamez

More than a man, King Jamez is a musician, son, brother, leader, community activist and a revolutionary.  Birthed in Heidelberg, Germany King Jamez first showed his way with words through poetry. At the age of 13 Jamez recorded his first song and the rest is history.  Everyone has a story of how their life was and how they wanted to make it better. Not everyone takes the time to make the difference happen. Instead of listening to the people that told him he couldn't or wouldn't make it in the music industry, King Jamez and a few of his cousins formed Beast Nation. Beast (Black Entreprenuers Always Stand Tall) Nation not only is a record label or promotions group, its a lifestyle that the team stands by.  Jamez says, "We Beast the competition and when one feasts the whole team eats."

At 10 years old King Jamez's Uncle Duke took him to Walmart and brought his Master P's album "Ghetto Postage" after his mom had told him he couldn't get it due to the explicit lyrics.  By the time they made it home he had learned most of the lyrics.  Althought his mother went off on him this would be one of his first memories with hip hop.  He is influenced my hip hop's greats such as Big Daddy Cane, 2 Pac, & Slick Rick.  His true fans stay fans because they like what he likes and understand his lyrics and personally on behalf of HB, we love the energy.  Jamez keeps himself separate from other artist because he only listens to himself and his own artist with Beast Nation. the only time he hears other artist music is at the club, during listening sessions, etc. As he makes his way to worldwide distribution, Jamez goal is to create music that is timeless and to inspire his peers that the sky is definitely the limit.
A graduate from Clark University, King Jamez made sure to succeed by keeping music as a hobby and second to his education. Graduating from Clark Atlanta University's Mass Media Department has been his biggest accomplishment thus far but, will definitely not be his last. Offstage Jamez is witty, laid back and observant but, when he is on stage you have no choice but, to Turn up with him. He has worked with
almost everybody in Atlanta including Future, 2Chainz, B.O.B, Hustle Gang, Rich Homie Quan, Gorilla Zoe, KE On The Track, La Da Boomman, Travis Porter, Greg Street, Roscoe Dash, and  Lil Bankhead but is waiting to work with Jhene Aiko, she's a BEAST.  Compared to the music industry when he was younger he feels the industry is watered down because artists use to pain pictures and were real about what they spoke. Now that everyone knows how profitable it can be he says its so easy a caveman can do it.  Yet, Jamez says that the mainstream industry is what you make of it once you reach the stage.
