HB Artist Insider: Trapbo Chad

Born in the 860 and Raised in a town they call K-vegas, Chad Landry fell in love with hip hop at a very early age.   As a toddler his mother taught him his first verse, " Well I am wonder mike and I'd like to say hello/ to the black to the white the red and the brown the purple and yellow, but first..." a line from the infamous Sugarhill Gang.  Chad is influenced by many great artist including the late greats Biggie Smalls and Big L as well as Curren$y.  Trapbo says that Biggie Smalls "Gimme the Loot" is the song that actually made him fall in love with hip hop.  He laughs at the thought of bumpin the track, screaming every word out the window except for the curse words because he is working on cleaning up his speech lately.

Trapbo Chad definitely has the drive to become a major star. His first show Chad paid 300 bucks to radio personnel, Waleed Coyote for 35 tickets. He stood in the cold in mid-December 2012 slanging the tickets outside of Venue Lounge in Greensboro. I performed at like 1:45 am and then when we were done at 2:10 am.  He believed in himself enough to take the chance which is more than be said for many new artist. A lot of artist don't invest in themselves.  This became Chad's most memorable experience as an artist because after his performance his homie said a girl was "waiting" for him in the hall. Chad said when he  went over to the hallway to see what was up and he received his first kiss with a black girl. Trapbo lost about a hundred bucks for that event but, it was a learning experience.

When speaking on hip hop and whether it is dead, Trapbo Chad refers to Curren$y when he said  "Rap ain't wrong, it's just fucked up, not like that forever though. Because you got us, good weed, bad bitches among us. Try not to let this bullshit become us..."  Trapbo believes in this perspective of the rap game heavy. He says he doesn't want to breathe life into it, Ihe wants to blow kush on it.  And by the way. Curren$y if you see this,  "I'M TRYNA WORK" ~Trapbo Chad.  Trapbo has some  top notch material and a little bit of weed and a dilligent work ethic which he feels will help him when he gets his chance to work with anyone in the industry already. He spoke briefly on getting his hat signed by Spitta and Roddy. He has been flying it on his wall ever since.  He thinks after working with these artist that he could die happy.

If you have never taken a listen to any of Chad's music you definitely want to.  He is featured on HB's "Fucc Yo Beats" with his rendition of Jay-z's What's my name.  In 2014 he is looking forward to more progress as well as the drop of his mix tape "Young Man the tape" and  Blackened Essence Debut Magazine issue on January 17th.

Salute to you Trapbo Chad from The Ladies of HB
