HB ARTIST INSIDER: YOUNG DIRT

In the music industry its fair to say that the underdog is not always recognized but, they are always necessary.  Coming straight out of Reidsville, NC we bring you one of the Carolina heroes Young Dirt.  Although, Dirt has not had many mainstream accolades, along with his team GHSL (pronounced G Hustle) he is definitely pushing his way to the top.  There is no separation from Young Dirt the artist and Young Dirt the man and HB is gonna let you know why.
Dirt like many others fell in love with hip hop when it became an escape from the things going on around him in his personal life. Dirt felt like music was his only friend that totally understood and never judged him. Music taught Dirt how to maintain and helped him grow into a leader. There was no better feeling than when he started doing shows and seeing people rap along with him word for word. Knowing people can feel and identify with his pain makes the journey more worthwhile. Along with his little brother Young Hood, who is currently serving fed time, Dirt started GHSL.  Grind Hard Sleep Less had nothing to do with music though. Young Dirt and his family have always been about getting to the money, handling business and doing what's got to be done by any means. When Hood got locked up Dirt switched up the name a bit and shortened it to GHSL (pronounced G Hustle) as an acronym and as a salute to Young Hood. He was a G that hustled, and now the hustle is music.  GHSL has everything from your thug artist, female rapper, R&B singers and lots of love.  When around them you know its not a team...it's a family.  Look out for the GHSL compilation mix tape followed by Young Dirt's album!

The two time, 3 category Carolina Music Nominee is definitely one artist that understands the importance of reaching out and having support even from the "little people".  Whether it is a open mic event,  listening to your free music, or sharing and liking your links on Facebook it is a blessing.   Young Dirt said he respects the CMAs first off for being a legitimate and credible accolade in the Carolinas and beyond that for being a meeting place for artists to become familiar with the movers and shakers and even executives of the Carolina Music industry. If you can't gain from being present at an event like that you aren't cut out for the business. The year he won, Dirt said he showed up with a duffle bag full of cds in a white tee and some camo shorts and walked out with an award.
"That feeling alone helped to push me to another level of the grind just to maintain the respect and acknowledgement I felt I was being issued through the award. No one had to say good job to me much less give me an award. But I also know the level of work it took to receive the award, and if you're not campaigning in the Carolinas YOU WILL NOT WIN." ~Young Dirt
Currently Young Dirt resides in Atlanta, GA but, he frequently returns to NC to put on for his state. Atlanta artists are almost always close to a celebrity in one way or another so a lot of them have some kind of notoriety before they even start making music. The ones that don't have to have an impeccable grind to cut through the politics and make a name. Dirt realizes that to not be from ATL and still be buzzin in the streets means he is truly blessed and highly favored.  He was able to catch a lot of people by surprise with his sound and receive a lot of support early in his travels to Atlanta while word of mouth gained him a lot of momentum.
Its fair to say that Young Dirt is the next young mogul and has what it takes to be a star.  Stay tuned because he has a bright future and will not let his fans down.
